Well, I pre-fished with a buddy of mine a few days prior who is a Nickjack Guru. I had one of those days like Jmax posted about in his pre-fishing. I was extremely excited but didn't want to jinx myself with a report as we have been having some tough luck. I had about 6 spots lined up I was very confident in. With the late start the first 5 were taken so we went to our last pre-determined option. My partner was throwing a spinner bait and catching short after short. I was trying to focus on larger fish thinking we wouldn't have a problem catching a limit. Our bad luck continued as My partner hooked into a nice 3-3.5 lber that threw his spinner bait just short of the boat. A few minutes later I hooked into a nice one off of the rip rap on a jerk bait , she was running straight toward the nose of the boat so I switched my rod to the other side of the boat leaving a split second of slack with which she promptly jumped and shook my jerk bait free. She appeared to be 5+ . We made a move and ran back by all my spots I wanted to hit that morning and they were still taken so we pulled in where flyman had been fishing earlier in the day and promptly caught one a little over 4 lbs (thanks for leaving us one flyman). We tried to run up river in hopes of catching a couple of last minute keepers but all of a sudden the water looked like the ocean and I scrapped that idea. On the way back into the dock I broke the tip off my favorite spinning rod and then promptly slid down the ramp in my flip flops trying to hurry up and get out of everyone's way loading the boat, lol. Im just glad you guys didn't laugh too hard!
