FishingwithRusty, chick, lm, 6 & 7 May, Sam the Dog

went out to try and follow micheal neal around on chick for the last day of the costa. got out early and caught a couple on topwater along seawalls before going up above grasshopper to try and catch the guys coming down. saw a boat go by on the other side of the river that i thought was him, but wasnt sure. then buddy gross went by, started to go follow him but turned back around. never saw neal so i started down the lake, went all the way to the dam. went into a marina to throw a swimbait around the slips and caught a few. coming back up the lake i saw randy haynes, kept going. went and flipped some cypress trees but no love. ran into randy haynes again near cf, watched and followed him all the way back up to grasshopper. given his reputation for being a ledge fishing guru, i was paying close attention. biggest thing i noticed was how fast he was going over these places when he was looking, not sure it was half hearted and not really expecting to see anything or if really can scan ledges for fish pushing that hard. the water being up and the temps being cooler really set this tournament up for the guys fishing shallow as witnessed by final results.

put the boat in early sunday morning and fished til 0930. started again with topwater running rock and see walls with no love. fished some shallow cover with a swim jig and cranked a couple of shallow points(no love). picked up the pro-shimmy jig and started fishing through a spawning area and caught a couple on front edge of the shallow cover(that has water in it now). made another pass through there flipping this time and caught one more. stopped by a shell bed on the way back towards the house and had a little guy tackle a cb on the first cast! thought i was getting ready to bust them.......but no, not another bite Smile
