Kokanee rigging
#1
The other day I saw a post in the Utah section about bending your flasher. Has anyone heard of this? Where do you bend the flasher and how much?

Sometimes the flatter sling style dodgers don't give much action out of the wrapper. Try different amount of bend in the middle until the dodger gives the amount of wobble back and forth you are looking for. They are thin and easy to bend/unbend by hand.

Start by rigging up you rod and at trolling speed, 1.7 mph with a sling blade, drop the unbent rig in the water along side the boat and look at the action. Then put a slight bend in the middle of the dodger and drop it down along side the boat again and watch the difference. It doesn't take much of a bend to make a difference. Now what is the problem? No two will bend the same so when I find one that produces well I mark it and try to bend the others in a similar fashion. Still, depending on who I'm fishing with I'll either put that perfect dodger on my rod so I can out fish the competition or put it on a person's rod like a little kid who I want to see catch a boat load of fish while the rest watch! Thanks for the input. I'll try it the next time I'm out.

My brother who does well at Strawberry has started to use Kokanee Creek Tackle Dodgers this year and likes the because they look to have the most bend at the ends and produce more side to side action.

Here is a link to a dodger that I have been using that is already bent and cupped and seems to work great so you don't have to fuss with bending etc. Good action, recommended to me by a friend who does great in kokanee tournaments in Oregon, including winning the Wickiup tournament a couple times with them.

If this link violates anything im sorry about and I will change or delete it.

I've used the gold mostly but the silver seems to work well too.

While on this, has anyone used a buzz bomb and jigged for kokes on Ririe or anywhere else around?
