Lee's Ferry
#1
Just made plans for the first trip to Lee's Ferry this year. My brother decided to finally fix his boat motor and make the maiden voyage past the place it blew up. I'm just hoping it gets fixed right and we make to the dam, with no problems for some unbelievable (an actual fly) fly fishing.

is a boat the only way to do it at Lee's Ferry? is there some decent bank fishing anywhere else around there? the history of that area is quite interesting, theres some good websites out there . .

Southernman the walk-in is tough. It is about 1 mile from the ramp down river til the rapids get to big. The only good spots are just above the big rapids in smaller rapids but the water is fast moving. It gets fished heavily all spring through fall.

Southernman are you thinking of going sometime? We're planning sometime late March or early April. It should be nice and warm during the day plus the crowds don't really start to flood the place til Easter weekend.

Boat Rentals: $150 a day plus gas. This deal sucks for a alluminum jet boat and with gas prices your looking at $50 plus for gas. Oh and you get to clean the boat as an added bonus.

Guided trips: $300 a day. You get to hit the water before everybody else and blast up river. They are covered with heaters so your nice and warm all year long. I think it includes lunch and the fishing is awesome. They mainly use dries and midge patterns. I'd say this is a great deal for somebody who wants to learn the river and what to use. Add another $100 to a boat rental plus gas and your on your way.

Give it a couple years when the excitement of bait fishing slows down. Considering how much you fish it might be sooner. This summer I'll have to get you to try the fly fishing thing. It is hard to learn for some but once you get used to casting and catching fish you'll never look back. I've got some friends that I never would of though to be actually fishing now they are wanna be extreme fly fisherman. I get a real kick out of watching them fish but the look in their face say it all.
