where should a guy go who wants to catch trout?

Where would you send me this weekend.

Snow keeps me from wanting to try Strawberry.

I dont know how the access is but you can't go wrong at lost creek.

I have always done fairly well at Jordanelle where the provo comes in. Rapalas and drift riggs. Trow upstream and let drift down ... slightly jerking your rod tip. whamo!

If you can get back east, I would recomend to try Brough reservoir. I nailed about 20 Wedenseday in a little over 2 1/2 hrs. on the ice. The road was decent all the way in. Just a warning-flys and lures only. They closed it to bait in 2003.

We had decent action on the trout at Jordanelle today (over on the marina side). There were so many perch hitting that we finally switched over to tipping with power bait to keep them off long enough for the trout to have a chance (we still caught a few perch even on power bait). The fish finder wasn't marking any fish in the mid range depths, which was wierd because that's where I've always found the trout in the past. We caught ours right off the bottom in 21' of water. We only stayed for 1.5 hours because of the freezing wind and we still managed 8 trout (we fished for perch for the first 50 min).

the rockcliff arm of jordanelle on either the north side by the rocky point that juts our or across from there on the south side where that spring comes in are both really good for trout,

I would say Lost creek, that is where I had the most luck with trout. That is, if you have a 4 w/d and know how to use it. Check with Hooked Fishing Tackle in Kaysville, someone there is sure to help you out.

Where are you coming from?? Change your user profile so we can see what part of Utah you are coming from so we know better where to send you. I don't know the lakes anywhere north of Jordanelle so if you are up there I can't help. I have had good luck at Scofield this year. We have caught some big fish and the fishing has never been really slow so far. Other than that we have caught some nice cuts at Strawberry but if you are looking to keep some fish I wouldn't recommend Strawberry.
