4 Cat Friday
#1
Got an unexpected early day off work yesterday. Grabbed the boat and a dozen worms and hit Willard South Marina. Was on the water about 1030. Really nice day, slight breeze, very few bugs, and not many power squadron folks, yet.

Sonar was showing fish thick as bugs on a bumper in Georgia. Started dragging a new-ish lure that had only been in the water maybe once this year. Made the right turn out of the marina, got out into about 12-13 fow heading toward freeway bay.
Saw R2U2 in his banana yak, did a slow cruise "hey how ya doing, Richard?" Then moved on. When I slowed down to holler at Richard, my new Sidekick rattle-trap bottomed out, and when I started up again, I guess it caught the interest of one of Willard's resident Kitties. That Cat must have been near-sighted or something. It hit the lure at the back end, and got hooked up under it's chin by 2 of the 3 hooks on the back treble, not in it's mouth, up thru it's lower lip from the outside and into it's mouth between the Tongue and lip. But with no real serious injury, we shook hands and parted ways. (In other words, I released him)

Got out to the "hump" off the feed lot, graphed a ton of fish. Dropped anchor, put 2 lines out with night crawlers, 50 minutes of calm, feet up, kick back, coffee sippin, light motion rock to sleep, wait time and just the lightest tap,tap on one line. Cat #2 boated and released.

Just about the time I was thinking of calling it a day, Cat #3 decided he just couldn't pass up the big juicy crawler on my bait hook. Well got him on board, posed for a photo and released. Packed up and headed back to the south marina, just as the afternoon group of young folks with more boat and better looks than brains or manners starred hittin the water.

Was an angler in a toon about 150 yards off of my location near the feed lot. He was looking like he was pretty hot, then all of a sudden, I didn't see him. Was about to haul in my lines and go make sure he hadn't gotten sucked under by the Willard Feed Lot monster, then I saw him bob up out of the water. Obviously he was just cooling off.

Wife didn't have to be at work until 3 today, and wanted to go fishin. We hit Willard south water about 7:45 and left at 12:30. Caught and released one youngster Cat, and a truck load of No-see-ums [:/]

It's lucky the cats want to play this year, because wipers and other fish seem to be hard to come by. Hope things start changing soon or I might just have to take up fly fishing with Larry[blush].
