No need to Reiterate on the wind. It was quite bumpy even in a 21X ! Got to say it was a brutal week of practice. Fished Mon, Wed, Fri and only had 6 short fish in the boat! Tried a spot 1st thing on Fri that hasn't produced anything for me all season and had 2 keepers on two casts that I shook off and then backed off for the TX. Had some real Jitters during the 24 hour wait but felt - Game On! I had my 3 fish at 7:45. One on a Carolina rig Senko and 2 on a 1/2 oz football jig then one shorty and things went dead. Ran for another confidence area and had to cover a lot of water the rest of the day looking for an upgrade. At about 11, I had a shear giant slam my spinner bait in a dock slip and couldn't move this fish out- on a 7' med/hvy Carrot Stik with 20# Sunline! It took off sideways and pulled off under the poles. I didn't see it but I'm still convinced it was a 7-9 bass. I then tried some pocket coves and in one of them there was a jet ski lift that was empty on the side of the dock next to the bank and had some nice brush around it. I pitched in right between the bunks- WHAM. My 5 lbr. Then, 3 mins later, here came the jet ski wanting on the lift. What amazingly lucky timing! So out went my small 1.85 and it bumped me to about 8.25. Covered a lot more water and caught 2 small keepers that didn't help, 1 short, then, 1 good upgrade fish that put me at my 9.13 for 2nd. Well, there went my dream of back to back wins, lol. Oh well, I'll take a 2nd pl anyday! Thanks to the CFF Org, helpers and everyone who fished. and congrats to 1st place team. See you at the Classic!
