We decided to make a short day trip back to the Riverpark to follow up on the CFF final day and see what would happen. Got into the water a little after 9 and headed downriver. It was cold...Got to our first spot and within ten minutes or so caught a small fish. Went another few minutes when I picked up a large school on the graph. Backed well off of it and started out throwing a Spro Little John crankbait. Over the next thirty minutes or so we caught 16 fish, all but two keeper size, on crankbait, jerkbait, spinnerbait, and spoon. All were spots except one smallmouth. Largest was 2.4, and smallest was 15 ounces. Best five of that group would have gone close to 9 pounds or so. Also hooked up what appeared to be a large cat that came unbuttoned, but experienced 10 seconds or so of the spin move. Finally, once the school had moved, we headed back up river to a final spot we like at night and caught three more fish, including the one largemouth we caught all day.
Outside of the school of fish, bite was slow, probably due to lack of water being pulled. Ran into Dink and his daughter on the way in, who said he had just lost a hawgzilla smallmouth. Been there my friend.
BTW. To all the idiots in the parking lot who cannot seem to park their trailers without taking up two spots, at least get your partner to help you move over your trailer. Small parking lot, and at least three morons were keeping spots from being used because they don't know how to drive. I am not the best either, but I know how to make it work.
