Decided it was time to break out the yankee prowess for Walleye and go after em on the upper end of the lake. Been hearing sporadic reports for a few months and decided to go see if I could conjure a few up.

Put in mid-morning at PinHook and immediately noticed the water temp was warmer than I had hoped for...57* (Strike 1). Figured it'd be too warm for a deep winter pattern but decided to burn some fuel and go find out. The HARD WAY. Got downriver and the sun decided to come out, wind blew AGAINST the current, which was only ~20,000 CFM (Strikes 2 and 3). Jigged/3-way-rigged until I couldn't do it no more. From 65' all the way up to 10', all without a bite.

Made the big run back up to the tailwater of WB dam. Vertical jigging, spoons, crankbaits, kitchen sink. NADA. Not a sniff. Ran back down and ended up back at bluffs, creek channels, etc. SAME. Not a bump.

I remember the good ol' days when I used to be able to jig up a limit of Sauger up there. If there's Walleye in the lake, damn sure wouldn't know it by me. All I had to show for the day was 50# of drum and 1 BIG White Crappie. I may try again when the water comes down another 10* and see what happens.

Suggestions are welcomed. LOL.

M
