Glow in the Dark Powder
#1
Glow in the Dark Powder
I have been messing around with glow in the dark lures for the last 5 months
I have cought big Lake trout at flaming gorge cuts and rainbow trout at Strawberry and rainbows at deer creek. I have had a camera down and you can see the glow
I have just started casting my own lures I use most of there products
https://www.makelure.com/

I have learned a lot from guys on BFT

right now I'm trying to find the best glow in the dark power

this is what I have put in my molds Pro-teck powder paint
this does not golw are last as long as
Art 'N Glow

https://www.artnglow.com/ the green and NEUTRAL AQUA GLOW POWDER will last up to 10 hr. after being charged I tested it.
you add 1 part glow powder to 4 parts resin.
you can make a paint out of it by adding it to Clear medium, resin or epoxy.

here are some pictures I took (the lures I just took them out of the mold)
the first is in a dark room with the camera flash on, have not been charged.
the next I charged them for 2 min put them in a dark room was not using the flash
they are as bright as a flash light
look at the white lure when it is not charged (did not put the power in the mold just painted it blue) look at it after is was charged.

I may buy some power here and see what it is like

Nice work, they are looking great.

I participate in a lure making forum called tackleunderground.com. To the best of my knowledge it is the largest international lure making web site.

Anyone is welcome to join in. But, the reason I mention it is that we have covered so many different topics and glow powders are one of them.

I think the consensus is that GloNation powders offer the longest and strongest lasting options. But, different lengths, colors, and strengths are available in their line.

ProTeck is a short glow powder, one I have in a powder coat paint. Art 'N Glow is not one I have used so I cannot comment on it.

Kosmic Kreations glow is one that we have commented discussed, and it has its followers.

Good luck on your search. Glow in the dark lures work on some species, and trout and char are some of the best ones, probably due to their geologically recent connection to the oceans where so much of their food Luminises.

Other species, like Walleye, also respond, but often too much will chase them off. Perch and crappie are the same way. An internationally know friend of mine once put a camera down a hole and watched perch and crappie respond to ice flies. In several cases, they would ignore the lure without glow. If several strands of glow flashabou were added, they would rush in, but not take it. When the strands were trimmed back one at a time until only a tiny piece remained, the perch and crappie would rush in, hold up short, then suck in the jig tipped with bait.

I guess my suggestion would be to have several colors available, and try some with glow limited to highlights. Have some without the glow at all.

Fish are funny, sometimes they tell you what THEY WANT. LOL

When I was in my early 20's I fished for Walleye at night. I had two lures that were identical, except one was also a glow in the dark. I could catch fish left and right on the Non-Glow, but only catch Walleye on the Glow one when it was almost out of glow, and then it was hot as fire.

Now, on the other hand, the lake had some nice rainbow in it, and they prefered the glow lure all night long.
