Haven't done it in a while, but with the weird icefishing I thought I might try to get some whitefish to smoke.
Anybody been?. Conditions and locations to share?

Haven't been in awhile either but you might try just below the bridge/ road that crosses the river as you head up to Lost Creek. I have seen huge schools of whites there in the past. Good luck !

I've been there several times, and it's likely where I would have tried first. I just haven't really hit the rivers in winter since I started icefishing 12 or so years ago. This being a warm and strange year, I wondered if it was still a "thing" to go stock up on whitefish in the winter. All I remember is that clear flows and small baits will catch them.
My first experience fishing with spikes was catching whitefish on them, on tiny mosquito hooks using a dropper made of a small splitshot. That was the best spinning gear rig I used.

Well, I went and caught a couple of very small, skinny browns and no whitefish. I did see several other fishermen, but didn't stop to chat.
