Rockport Conditions - Ice Fishing
#1
Taking the wife and kid to Rockport on the 14th but I usually go to Strawberry.

Please advise if thin ice around the edges would be a problem for my 4wheeler.

Which end of the reservoir has been getting the best action???

I'm sure that with this recent cold snap, the edges wouldn't give you or your machine any grief. I've heard a lot of good reports from rockport, but strawberry seems to be hit and miss for most people. Good luck, and I hope you have fun.

If you enter the ice from the boat ramp, you should be ok. We fished there last saturday and did very well. The perch are moving away from the fishing pressure but not real deep. We started at over 45' deep with little success, then moved in to 36' and found the perch. We did not catch or see any trout until we moved again. This time to 26' of water. that was where we found the trout ,suspended from the bottom all the way to just 8' under the ice. Rockport has received a lot of pressure over the last month so be prepaired to move around to find the fish. DKS
