Starvation - We almost did
#1
A couple of us fished Rabbit Gulch today from our tubes. There is still some ice along the southwest side and toward the end of the bay but the rest is open water. Some of the bays over in Indian Bay are still mostly covered too.
We fished from 11:00 until 3:00 using fly gear with both medium and fast sinking lines and size 6 bead head brown/green/pearl soft hackle and a size 8 bead head leech in plum color. We only managed to pick up two rainbows with only another four fish on during that time. We marked quite a few fish but they must still be in hibernation.[:/]

The water temperature was 37 degrees and the visibility in the water of about 12'. The reservoir is full and spilling.

We didn't see anyone fishing where we were which was surprising for such a nice day.

It was a fun day with very little wind and low 40's temps.[Smile]

Thanks for the report! I'm impressed you're already out in the float tube.

Your welcome.

This has been a strange year for ice and open water. We have been out in the tubes eleven times this year between Starvation, Otter Creek, PaliSade, Mill Meadow, Forsyth, Huntington North, Deer Creek, & Millsite.

We fished Millsite on Feb. 16th and it was just about ice free. This week it is frozen over again.[:/]

You are never quite sure what your going to find when you go somewhere.
