Nice catch; we on the South Team have a lot of catching up to do and this helps. I was wondering if Utah Lake was our only option. Is Yuba worth a shot? Anywhere else in the south that's worth a try?

Yuba has cats. I think phisco caught a 32” cat there a few years ago. Last year I fished at Gunnison Bend several cats were caught but nothing over 25”. Talked to the Biologist for the southern district. He told me that some of the best cats are in deep pools in the Severe River. My previous visit to D.M.A.D. Only small mut cats were caught. The 28”er today was a surprise.

Used to be Cats at Yuba, just like there used to be nice Walleye. Since the drain for the damn repair, haven't heard of any cats, and no Eyes. Don't mean there aren't any, but not heard of any.

Nice fish ice_sled!
Just and FYI,
I haven't caught and cats at Yuba, the 32" a few years back was at Utah Lake. I have caught perch and walleye at Yuba, but every time I thought I might catch a cat, it had been golden scales in funny lines down the sides[ ]

Now that's what I'm talking 'bout! Knew it was just a matter of time before someone busted a 30+"er for the south team. Good job man. Then a couple of other top tens!
Don't believe I ever had as good a day.

If you had another man on board to straighten out the kink in that fish i'll bet he would have made 33. Great fish and about time somebody pushed Ahi a little bit. He's been killing us and the monster cats. Time for the biggun's to start showing up in the big pond.
Well done!

Guess he didn't read all the recent posts about "pinching the tail" when measuring fish...................[sly] pretty difficult to do, pinch the tail, hold the body, don't block the measurements at head or tail,..........and oh yea, take the picture all at same time. [shocked]

I agree. Not enough fillets for a fish sandwich.
