Cataract surgery, clinic recommendation/experiences
#1
I have to start looking for a clinic and or doctor to get cataracts in both eyes taken care of.

Anybody have this done, if so, who? Where? Experiences good, bad or otherwise.

What I would like to do is get the cataracts taken care of and be able to get out of glasses completely after wearing them for 40 years.

The upside right now is my left eye is cloudy enough it has actually improved my shotgun shooting.
Downside is I am having to adjust my microscope every day at work to be able to use it.

Thanks for any input.

Without reservation, I can recommend Dr David Brodstein at Country Hills Eye Center in Ogden. He did my wife's cataracts, and was simply superb at it. He's also an outdoorsman who speaks our vision needs.

My mother in law and I had both our cataracts removed & implant replacement lenses done by the Moran Eye Institute at the University Of Utah. We both have had absolutely excellent results.

As a person with eye desease (RP) I have had several surgurys , including cateracts. My retina specialist sends me to eye institute of Utah. (My doctor was at the moran eye clinic for many years.) My last cateract would have been $12000 + at moran , but was $2700 at the eye institute. (Dr. Weber) Keep in mind the same surgeon would have done the procedure at either locale (Dr Weber) That is why my Retina specialist left the moran clinic.
If money is no object for you , moran is the best , but if you want the same doctors with out the UofU

As coincidence would have it, my annual eye exam last week showed that I need cataract surgery in one eye. I'll stick with Dr Brodstein.

After talking to Dr. Scott Sykes at the Utah Eye Center, there have been some advancements in multi-focal lenses since I was in three years ago, which if I have both eyes done, which I need to, there would be a great chance of me not having to wear glasses after.
But the out of pocket cost is very prohibitive for me.

Good luck with yours and maybe we can talk about it in a couple weeks at the get together.
