There are a lot of places online that give a wind forecast for Utah Lake. They all seem to be different for this coming Friday. I have family driving a couple of hours to come fishing. If wind turns out to be above 10 mph then I may choose to go somewhere else or not go at all.
I know that forecasts are forecasts and none are going to be perfect, but has anybody found one site or app to be more accurate than others? Also what weather station/location do you check? I launch my boat from Lindon marina. Right now weather.com says 10-15 mph, willyweather shows 9-10 mph and WindFinder says about 6 mph.
Thanks!

I use the weather channel app on iPad. It’s the only I personally trust. The day before it breaks it down hour by hour. I’ve planned fishing trips to the precipitation on the hour by hour and it hasn’t been wrong for me surprisingly. I’ll cancel trips if I don’t like what I’m reading on it. So it’s done right for me.

What he said. The Weather Channel is showing 11 mph from the south. The hourly, however, shows 5-6 mph from 8:00-1. That's about as mild as you can ever expect. At this time the hourly only extends to 1 on Friday so you can check later for the afternoon. Go early and have fun. But keep checking because conditions do change.

The older I get the more I would rather be considered a good man than a good fisherman.

I have used the Weather2 Fishing Weather a lot for hunting in the Uintas and found it pretty accurate. It forecasts for every four hours. It shows the same pattern as The Weather Channel but adds that there will be gusts to 7 mph. The specific site is

I use an app called Sail Flow on my I-phone. Seems to be fairly accurate. It will give a reading for a particular area. Also gives a forecast for five days ahead. Also wind direction and wind patterns.

At UL its not so much on how fast as the direction, it's if there is a steady wind that comes clear across the lake it can make some good waves, at lindon the SW wind, Lincoln its the north to NW that runs you off,.
most of the time you with all the technology available ya still just have to show up and see whats going on then go from there,

I have been using the NWS online map and forecast. Been pretty accurate so far, and I don't have to wait for a news / weather report. Can dial in anywhere I want.
link is what I just pulled up for the Lincoln Beach area.
