I need a fishing buddy for tomorrow morning. I don't like to hit the ice alone.

[red]I'm afraid I've got a honey-do list a mile long tomorrow and won't really be happy until the ice GOES AWAY. (I do have an auger, it's just I like a boat and shorts better than snow boots and a bucket.) I would like to take a rain check and hear how you do. I have seen a few folks out there on the ice at first dam - Logan right? - and wondered what was working and how they did. [/red]

1st dam is good for 10 to 12in bows and VERY rarely a huge brown. Traditional methods seem to work: ice flies or small jigs tipped with a mealworm, and some sort of flasher. The ice there does worry me a little and I would highly suggest caution and a buddy. The ice is usually pretty thick down by the dam, but the first 10 feet from the bank are what worry me. Out past that the ice has been from 8 to 10 in. The best thing about 1st dam is the 5 minute drive and 1 minute walk. Hyrum, porcupine, and Newton have slow reports and take a lot longer to get to.
