Oneida ice
#1
Any word. On ice conditions at Oneida? I’ve never fished it in the winter, but I’d sure like to. Any tips?

I haven't been up in over a month, but I'm sure the ice is thick enough to fish. The big problem with ice fishing Oneida is the water fluctuation. For some weird reason, if the water drops after the ice forms (and it always does, and then comes back up again) then the ice ends up sitting above the water by a foot or more. That makes for dangerous conditions. If you go, be careful to check the ice as you work your way out. Drill some holes and check to make sure that you aren't standing on an ice shelf.
