I got into some Perch in about 50 FOW just down from the fee station and bathroom. Tried a bunch of lures, but they seemed to enjoy a white paddle bug with green neon head and a white tube with orange tail the most. Both were tipped with waxies. We caught and released a total of ~25 from 7 - 11. They were all the way at the bottom and like it most when we jigged it off the bottom. Average length was probably around 9 inches and the largest was 12 in. The picture doesn't really do it justice, but it was one of the bigger chunkers I've seen.

I expect those released perch did not make it brought up from 50'. Your call, but catch-n-release from that deep is not recommended .

Studies indicate that percentages lost are 25% or less in most fish species. The ones that don't will probably end up as a meal for a bigger fish. In the grand scheme of things fisheries wise, the total loss to the perch population in any given body of water from catch-n-release is minimal at worst. Like you said, it was his call to make. Thanks for the report R4B. Peace and tight lines to both of you.[/#800000]
