Capt. Jay Frolenko reported they had about 6 hits and 5 fish hooked-up
on a short day on the big river on 2/17/04. The upper section of river is
starting to clear from ice. The lower end is still frozen over for the time being.
Watch for action to improve next week, once the lower end clears up from ice.
Jay will be fishing next week and promised more reports.

Feel free to contact me and I'll help you book your spring Steelheading event. [#ff0000]I Can't Attend the Flint Steelheaders Show[/#ff0000]

The way it looks, out of town business will prevent me from attending
the Flint Steelheaders Show at Birch Run on March 5th thru 7th, 2004.
I kinda hate this opportunity to met with you in person, but the new
projects I have on the table, demand my complete attention. I'm sure I'll
have a major announcement for you, when our free Salmon Symposium
rolls around on March 27, 2004. I will have a booth at the show, however
I'm not quite sure of all the crew members I'll have manning it yet. Curt from
Purple Taco Flies and Bob Hicks have both expressed interest. [#ff0000]Capt. John's Salmon Symposium 3/27/04

[/#ff0000]I've rented the Stronach Township Hall on March 27, 2004 for a learning
experience for all the members of my website. I have a great list of informed
speakers covering all aspects of trolling the Great Lakes for Salmon and Trout.
I will be doing a thorough presentation on successful tactics with cut-bait.

The price of my symposium is the best word in the American language, "FREE!"
Orientation and registration is at 9am. From more info please click on this link:

[/#ff0000]Well, I can finally see spots of bare ground in my driveway, as the snow
is temporarily receding. This is a major victory in it's self, because is been
covered with snow since the first of the year. We're about a week away
from good Steelheading on the Manistee River and about month out from
removing the covers and readying our big lake vessels.
Yes sir! We'll all be fishing again and ..... soon!

Steelhead fishery has been hard to come by. A few Steelhead are being
caught at Tippy Dam. Fishing pressure has been light at the dam from what
I saw on 3/4/05. The water temperature is slightly above 35 degrees.
Look for high, dirty water conditions in the very near future. This will be the
first flush of the year and the high water rinses the debris from the water shed.

Plug fishermen will be handicapped most, while the fly and spawn fishermen
will suffer the least. Although, [/#000000][#000000]visibility issues generally mean less action.[/#000000] With winter on the wane a bright fishing future awaits us all in 2004.
We're still about a month out from the big lake season, but never the
less it will soon be here. If you're looking to sharpen your pre-season
skills?.....please plan on attending our Super Salmon Symposium. I know
the quality of our guest speakers and the fast-paced format will be an
exciting and enlightening experience for all!
