Strawberry report 4/7
#1
Buddy and I fished the Ladders today and had a great time.
We ended with 31 cutts and 3 bows.
Nothing big but the fish we caught were colored up real nice.
Most fish took a green jig tipped with a bit of crawler, 24' in 28' deep of water.
The Canada geese put on quite the show for us. Poor birds are looking for last years nesting sites but they are all under the snow this year.
Perfect weather, did not even set up the shantys.
I told myself as soon as I got home this was the last ice trip of the year, but I just got off the weather channel and Fishlake is looking good for next friday!

I absolutely love the red Phazer snowmobile. I would really have a hard time concentrating on fishing if I had that thing along. Especially this year.

Were the edges still solid getting on the ice at The Ladders?

It is my wife's machine. I cant believe it is 24 years old this year.

Very solid getting on, a little soft coming off but very easy.
There is a 2" slush layer under about a 3 or 4" ice layer.
The ice layer gets weak after a days worth of sun on it.
If night time temps stay cold the lake should be fishable another week or two at least.
I imagine getting a boat on here will be Memorial Day/ first weekend in June.
I sure miss 'Old Strawberry' and limits of good fighting 3lb bows.
Our smallest bow put our biggest cutt to shame in the Tussel Department.
