Kicken around on Scofield
#1
I decided to give Scofield another try on Saturday from my tube. I fished there on May 9th for an hour and a half and never had so much as a bump.

I launched on the west side at the WIA parking area at 8:30 and fished until 2:30. I fished between the rocky point to the south and the point where the cabins are to the north.

I used a medium sinking line (#3) and various flies in olive, black/orange/pearl, and tan/green/pearl. I caught about 10% rainbows and 90% cutthroats, along with two chubs. Most of the fish came while fishing water from 8' to 16' deep. The best method was to cast out 50' - 60' of line, paddle for awhile, and strip the line in with short quick strips.

The water temperature was 49-57 degrees and the visibility in the water of about 4'. I was surprised the water was as clear as it was with all the snowmelt coming in. The reservoir level is 69% full and coming up.

There were about a dozen boats and a lot of shore anglers. It is nice to see more folks using the reservoir again.[Smile]

The weather was really nice until about 11:30 when the wind came up and made the paddling a little tougher.[:/]
