Saltwater is rough on gear...
#1
Took some time yesterday to clean all the rust off the guides on my 8 wt. white vinegar does a great job, i then coated hem all with WD40, my fly line was also shot so i ordered some new tropical line as the heat down here makes lines soft, hopefully my new line stands up a little better. Boat motor needed a little repair but it's all back now, be on the water this week. Going to try and chase some tarpon.

Rinse, rinse, rinse. Everytime you get off the water rinse everything off. Wipe the guides dry, WD 40 is only fair. Use MX 237 instead.
Take the reel spools off and rinse the insides, spray them with 237.
Get used to pulling your line all the way out and rinsing it too, then wiping it off with a conditioner before putting it away.

Yes, salt can eat good gear, but the rewards of fishing the salt is worth it.

Salt water is brutal on gear. Give it a good soak and rinse after each outing. It will save you a lot of issue.
