Scofield in the heat
#1
A buddy and I fished Scofield today from our tubes. We launched over on the east side and fished from 8:30 until 2:30. We fished both deep water and shallow using fast sinking lines (#8) and slow sinking lines (#2) with various size 6 & 8 buggers, leeches, and soft hackles in black/green/pearl, midnight fire, black, and olive.

We caught only cutthroats and chubs. The good news was 80% were cutthroats. The fish weren't big, ranging from 11" to 16" on the cutthroats and 11" to 12" on the chubs. Most of the fish were caught in less than 10' of water around the weeds.

The water temperature was 64-70 degrees and the visibility in the water of about 4' because of algae in the water column. The water level for this time of year is great at 91%.

There was a good mayfly hatch in the late morning and some small midges. The usually large midges you find at Scofield were not out today.

It was a fun day but this was one of those days when you were hoping for at least a slight breeze to cool things down a bit. I'm looking forward to Fall temperatures.[Smile]
