[#0000FF]There are very few largemouth left in Pineview, compared to the years before smallmouths were introduced. Today there are probably a hundred or more smallies for every largemouth.[/#0000FF]

[#0000FF]Largemouths prefer structure like flooded brush and trees, weedbeds, etc. They also like rocks but the smallies seem to outcompete them for prime rocky locations. Still, you can occasionally catch both in the same areas. With the great fluctuations in water levels it becomes even harder for largies to find comfortable living quarters.[/#0000FF]

[#0000FF]And to complicate matters even more, the tiger muskies like the same kind of habitat largemouth bass do. And if it gets down to a battle for possession of prime real estate...guess who wins.

[#0000FF]Look in the backs of the arms for flooded cover and work them over with big plastics or with buzzbaits or spinnerbaits when conditions are favorable. Big crankbaits can work well too. But as the water cools they will go deep and you gotta either spoon them or slow drag big jig and trailers.
