I spent a mid-day hour trying to catch a crappie off the docks at Utah Lake State Park. I did not, even though I tried at 5-6' as others have advised. I even tied on a green Trout Magnet and tipped it with a waxworm. Finally I decided to try fishing the bottom and see if I could kill the skunk. Got an 8.5" perch for a half-inch bump in the Challenge. And that was a first for me too, fishing with and catching a fish on a Trout Magnet. I talked to another guy who had been there quite a while with their group. They had caught one good white bass. I think that mid-day just may not be the best time to fish there. Maybe Monday. Still 1" of ice, pleasant weather.

The older I get the more I would rather be considered a good man than a good fisherman.
