Is it really worth it to fish the Jorden? I am looking for places to take kids fishing, we go to Jordenelle, Rockport and the others up the hill but where is the closest fishing to SLC that you really catch fish at. Any kind of fish is fine, Carp, suckers ect.

Check the proclamation, look for urban ponds in your area. They may not be fishable until spring but they are a great place to take kids. Each pond will have its own regulation and type of fish that you can catch. DKS

I have taken my grandchildren to the Mighty Jordan, and they have had fun catching carp and cats. So I would say yes -- it is worth fishing it. I can be fishing the Jordan River in 10 minutes after leaving home; whereas, it will be at least 50 minutes before I can be fishing Jordanelle. In the summertime, a quick trip to The Jordan is much better than wishing I had enough time to take them to Jordanelle.

Thats what I'm talking about. How far downstream can you fish and still catch? I live near 17 south. Should I go farther south to fish with them?

I fish in the Woods Cross area. Do a search on here for the Jordan River, there have been some good posts on here.
