Mill Meadow since the State Parks are off limits

A couple of us loaded our tubes and headed south to fish Mill Meadow Reservoir today.  We had to drive past two State Parks that were off limits to us on the way. Angry

We launched at the boat ramp at 9:30 and fished until 2:30 using fast sinking lines and various bead head buggers in black/orange, green/pearl, and black/orange/pearl in sizes 8-4.  We picked up a little of everything, cutthroat, rainbow, tiger trout, and browns.  Most of the fish were browns and all of the fish were between 12" - 16" long and with a thin body.  Most of the fish came from 20' - 35' deep water and were between 15' and 20' down.  Some of them we caught while just paddling (trolling) and some we caught on the cast, sink, and strip method.

The weather was great to start with mild temperatures and calm winds.  The wind held off until about 2:00 so we got most of the day with calm water.

The water temperature was 39-40 degrees and the visibility in the water was about 4'.  The water level is about 6' - 8' from being full.

There were a few folks camped on shore and several bank anglers along with one boat while we were there.  We saw the first pelican of the season along with a pair of loons and a small flock of cormorants.

It was nice to get out and enjoy nature and get away from all the Sad news for awhile.

Take care and stay safe everyone!
