Strawberry
#1
With the weather not being conducive for proper waterfowl killing, Big Earl & I decided that a day trip to Strawberry might be in order.  Wise decision.  Left Ogden about 8:00 AM and was on the water fishing a little past 10:00 AM.  We fished both surface and depth.  Fish were located throughout the water column with most at either 20 - 25 feet or 40 to 50 feet.  Long lined flies on the surface with purple being the best producer.  Worked dodgers & squid or dodgers & Hot-Spot Apex/Pro-Troll Kokanee Killer down deep.  The fish from 40 feet were all under 10" and the bigger fish all came from the surface or 15 to 20 feet.  Total for 4 hours was 30 plus fish boated and several short distance released.  Water surface temp was 46*F; air temp in the 40's all day.  Winds were very light out of the southwest all day.  All in all, a very nice day to be out enjoying Nature's bounty.  With over 30 boat trailers in the parking lot when we arrived, I would guess others felt justified in making the trip as well.  Life is good.

Now for the fish porn.   Wink

Nice haul Bob, nice spots on the cutty. When you were trolling the flies, how fast were you going?

Fun times & fun day to enjoy a fine catch as this. I haven't been fishing since early August and the Berry was my last known watering hole. Been wanting to take advantage of this weather myself as failed attempts earlier prevented. As I peer thru my office window at my house while in response to this I see I missed another good opportunity to go with a path to a sunny warm spring type day. This is teaser weather good for the soft deck but not favorable for duck hunting.

Speeds varied between 1.5 & 2.0 depending on going with the wind or against the wind.  Caught fish both ways.
