Newton January 6th
#1
Wanted to hit the gorge yesterday but the hwy was closed in Evanston so we headed north instead. None of us has been to Newton so it was an exciting option B for us. Shout out to Jeff (skunkedagain) for putting us on a good spot when we got there. Ice was variable with 2-4in of cloudy on top of the clear but stayed 7-8in total everywhere we fished. The slush monster was out in full force and having some good water proof boots and a tent was key. I don't belive I've ever ice fished in January in the rain  Undecided and hope it doesn't happen again. Total fish count for our group of 3 was a dozen perch only one over 8in, 10 or so large mouths 2 going 17in and 2 sun fish.  We used a wheeler to get around and it wasn't too bad. Snowmobile would have been a better option though. Here's a pic of what got invited to dinner.
