Last chance 4 kids at the Berry
#1
After a week of planning, my daughter and 4 granddaughters got to go fishing with grandpa before school starts Wednesday. Late on the water at 8:30 from Renegade. I didn't realize that they charged $10/car or truck & boat. Kids age 6-14 are thrilled and have brought their rods that Grandpa got them a couple years ago. Still had same line on reels. lol We started trolling with my rods that were ready. Dragging a deep diving crankbait, lipless crankbait, a kastmaster, and a tube jig for about an hour with no takers. Kids don't understand that when you cross rod tips while trolling tangles occur and we had plenty. I did have time to rig the girls' rods up with some heavy jigs and baited with chub. We went to Kents secret location on the lake.
After handing out the rods and getting the jigs to the bottom, we immediately began to still not catch fish. After switching to crawlers we finally started getting bites. I couldn't get the little kids to set the hook, so we would lose them. The ones we landed had the jig and worm deep and ended up pelican food. The girls liked the idea that the dead fish wasn't wasted.

Of course crawdads gets the girls interest.

Fish number 3 for the boat. What a sweetie.

And the oldest sister lost 3 but landed none.
Well we only ended up with the three before my daughter had to leave at 12:30 for a 3 o'clock PTA meeting. Nothing better than fishing with daughter and grandkids.
Good fishing to all.   Hue

I'm glad that you caught a few. Not easy to teach youngsters how and when to set the hook.

Be glad it wasn't Pineview or they would have dinged you $18!

Especially difficult doing 4 at a time. I wouldn't last as a school teacher.
Good fishing to all.   Hue

Glad you had some success out there. Fishing with kids is always an adventure but worth it for their experience.

Just trying to get all those girls to gets up there at 8:30 am was a major accomplishment imo. Good to hear most of them caught a fish.

I agree. It's amazing that my daughter can wrangle them well. When time can to head in, the eldest that hadn't caught one, asked if she could fish from shore. Now that put a Smile on Grandpa's face.
