Have family in panguitch that went out today and ice was 3" they fished and hammered the rainbows.

Despite the weather it still has about 6" of good ice as of this weekend, haven't heard about the ice derby but I can look into it next time I'm down there

We fished it Saturday morning. About half the lake is open water with about 5" max ice on the bay near the hwy (East?)
A little more than nervous getting out on it but besides being very slippery it was strong enough to be out on.  The fishing was good in about 10' of water. Brought up about 30 fish between two of us, cutts, bows and a tiger. Very nice way to start the ice season for me.
