Thanks,
I posted a report, from today 4” of ice with 3” of slush and 3” of snow on top. Fishing was slow I only managed a dozen planter bows didn’t mark many fish.

Yes, I committed a big sin of not seeing if my question had already been answered before posting my question.  I know better.

I had a trip scheduled to go out there, on Thursday, and I called it off because I was certain that the conditions you both described is what we would encounter.  I have been there and done that, several times, and just as soon not do it again.

LOL, your funny Kent but I was thinking the same thing about the conditions there but since it's the only game in town wew decided to give it a try, knowing we might not even get on the ice. I've been on worse ice there but I was really surprised by the amount of slush this early in the season. First ice trip out of the way, hopefully it get better from here on out.

Should be clear with temps in the single digits today. Bet there'll be quite a few out there.

Early in the season is often when the slush is bad.  Slush, on early ice, is often caused by heavy snow pushing down on the ice and causing cracks in the ice.  The water comes through the cracks and slush is formed.  Early in the season is prime for slush because the ice is not as thick and so it doesn't take as much snow to cause cracks in the ice.  I don't like to walk in slush because it is miserable and one can never be sure where an open crack might be.
