Had a fun day getting a couple kids out ice fishing for the first time Saturday, we met up with friends that shuttled us over to the meadows on their snowmobiles where we set up in 70’ of water. We hunkered down in shelters all day because it was windy and snowing. The kids caught 4 and 5 a piece and I managed 16, the other adults in the group caught between 2-8 a piece for over 60 for the whole group.

The kids and I got ours on my favorite white with red flake Gitzilla tipped with meal worm. The first fish of the day was caught by one of the kids a 2.5-3lb. Rainbow; about 1/4 of the fish caught were rainbow’s. Most of the Cutts were caught between 30-45’ down and the rainbows higher in the column around 15’. The kids really figured it out and I bet the next time they will double their catch rates.

Good job Obi. Sounds like slush wasn't an issue?

About a foot of snow on top of a layer of frozen slush on top of solid ice.
