Gorge Update - Sheep Creek?
#1
Hey guys,
Been a few years since I have been on here. Good to be back. Just curious if anyone has taken a drive over to Sheep Creek in the last week or two. I know there is still ice, but I'm curious how much it has receded at Sheep Creek. Was thinking about a quick Rainbow run tomorrow to see if they are stacked up yet. Thanks in advance for any help.

Good to see you found your way back Matt, after so many years. Hopefully someone can give you a better answer ,with some first hand info but in case you don't have the link to the web cam, here is one with two different shots of the lake but not Sheep creek. Ice is receding so you might have a shot at some open water at Sheep creek.

Thanks!

I have been looking at the cams the last few days. Appears to be breaking up the last few days. I would think the stream coming in would break it up a little more in the bay. Guess the only way to find out is to make the trip.

I seen a FB post a couple weeks back showing the ice around the edges opening up then in Sheepcreek, and it's been warm and opening up everywhere else since then, so I would assume it's got some open water by now... Maybe Ryan will see your post and give you a first hand update... I PM'ed you and Ryan hopefully he will see it soon enough to get you some info before you have to take off on the trip... Good luck... Jeff

The only open water we really have right now is 500-600 acres down by the dam. Mustang and Cedar Springs are open for launching. The ice line starts just above Cedar Springs and extends the entire length of the reservoir, with exception to some open pockets and around the shoreline. Being its barely getting above freezing the last couple of days and today, it'll probably be another week before Sheep Creek is completely open.

Hope it helps, Ryno

Thanks for the updated report Ryan, glad you corrected my guesses... I would have suspected it was open by now... Thank you... Jeff
