We dropped our fligs off Pelican Beach around 6:30 am to glassy waters, we could have used some of Pats wind from yesterday. Very slow start no bites for what seemed like an eternity. Once the sun came up, Duane spotted birds diving and fish braking water a half mile away and we watched it for far too long before picking up and running over. We got there and Juma got our first wiper just as the surface action came to end on a chrome lipless crank bait.We stayed in the area throwing cranks for a while with no more love and went back to pulling fligs when a short while later they stared up again all around the boat. For 20 minutes it was a 12” wiper on almost every cast of the lipless crank baits, the three of us caught several dozen, for the highlight of the days fishing We manage to also put 8 cats in the box by noon when we called it and headed in.
