Deer Creek ice/open water?
#1
We are thinking about fishing DC tomorrow and would like to know if anyone has been by there today to check out the current conditions at the main state park ramp.

We are going to be fishing from our tubes so we are looking for open water with shoreline access to launch.

Thanks for any information anyone has.  We don't want to drive for two hours to find out that everything is iced up. Sad

I drove by there Sat afternoon 1/25 coming back from RP. More than half the lake was still ice free. Ended just about the island on the inlet side and about the buoy line by the dam. From the road it looked like you might still be able to launch at the main ramp, but we didn't drive down to check.

If you ping the DC facebook page they are usually good to answer in a timely manner.

Thanks for that.

I did send them a message and they got right back to me.  They said the ramp is still open with lots of open water available to fish.

It looks like it's a go for tomorrow!

Just drove by there an hour ago.  Can confirm it is open water around the main State Park ramp.

Good luck.

(FWIW, there were guys ice fishing around the island and at the Charleston area.)

That's the best of both worlds.  Ice fishing and float tubing on the same pond. Big Grin

Thanks for the confirmation!

Went by yesterday. Bunch of open water at main ramp. One lane on the ramp is plowed.  Wedge dock is in the water.
