Just like RP a week or so ago, Echo has slowed down to a crawl. Perch of any size few & far between. Dug in S of the ramp at 10:15, staying until 12:30, fishing 42-50'. Got one 8"er and half-doz 4"ers. Fish were on the bottom and shadowing my baits up & down, but few takers, and the lightest bite at that when they did. Walked over to another angler on the way in who had over a doz nice fatties. Said they came thru at 32' from 8-10am. Tried the new state park on the drive back, fishing those 28-30' community flats. Just the tiniest of bites & not one hook-up. Two other guys 50 yds away had one 10"er between them. Another gorgeous bluebird day, 13-deg when I out on, 30 when I got off. Ice is 9". All sun & no wind. It's either go to RP or get to Echo before sunrise.

I’m planning on getting out tomorrow at o’dark thirty. Been chomping at the bit to go all week long. I’ll put up a report when done. Hopefully you’re right and early is the ticket!

Don't know how to post the link, but if you youtube "Jumbo Perch Are Back (Mille Lacs lake)" you'll see what maybe those perch are doing down below when in their neutral, sort of take-it-or-leave-it mood.

You going with Joe tomorrow? I plan on being there, but not until 8:30 or so. I don't 'do' early anymore.
