NBC day at Willard
#1
Ira and I got out on Willard yesterday from 7:30 till 1 pm. It was a little windy, so we slow trolled fligs at .5 mph. We caught them on a variety of colors, firetiger, pale perch and wonder bread caught all the cats, up to 23", most were 21 to 22". We fished the East side from Pelican beach to Freeway bay. We launched from the South marina and Obi launched just before us. Two other boat trailers in the parking lot, when we returned, since we did not see them out there on the East side, we assumed they were fishing the West side. Nothing special on the cats ,so no pics. Water temps were the same as last week 43 degrees because of all the stormy weather, but next week is looking better, so I'm sure that will change by next Sat.

Sounds like a good day. I'm looking forward to that warmer weather. Hoping to get out soon. Thanks for the report.

It was good talking to you guys out there we had a similar day, we caught ours around the feed lot and also got one Jumbo perch. Our best flig was the chartreuse whirly with three red dots but also got them on pink tiger and blue silver non whirly. I am out of chub so had to resort to carp from the freezer which the fish didn’t seem to mind. I much prefer chub though. The only pick I have is from mid morning when Curt sent me a text asking how the catching was.

I think there was a window, when the catching was better, then it just died. We had 8 when you joined us on the East side, only getting one more for the rest of the day, even though we were marking more fish later, they just were not biting. One strange this we saw, as we were arriving, there were no cars by that outer parking lot, there by the baffles but as we were leaving there was 4 cars there, where as the week before that parking lot was full, when we arrived and left. Water level is raising too and the water in the marina and channel are much clearer. With the warm weather they are predicting this week, that could change as more run off comes down the river.

I agree about the bite we got most of ours earlier too and the water is definitely rising, I commented to Juma that by next Friday the water would be up in the parking spots at the south marina.
