River Flow and Gage Height [[#0000ff]click here[/#0000ff]]

Flow: 40 cfs

Clarity: Fair

Water Temperature: Low 40’s

Major Food Organisms: Midges and baetis

Hatches: Midges and Baetis

14 Day Forecast: Look for low flows and challenging fishing. The best fishing will be above the Decker’s bridge. Look for the fish to move into the riffles and for the baetis hatch to intensify in the next few days. Anglers can expect the big spring midge to hatch soon!

Tips and Other Information: Fishing remains challenging around the Deckers area due to these low flows. There is good news and light at the end of the tunnel. With the recent unseasonably warm weather, the baetis are starting to hatch a few days early. The hatches are sporadic, but nevertheless; within the next 10 days the hatch will be in full swing. Effective dry fly patterns will include #20 Sparkle Duns, #22 Parachute Adams, #22 Blue Duns, and #22 Hi-Vis Baetis. Nymphs of choice (to be fished during the non-hatch periods or before the hatch) are: #20 Sparkle Wing RS II’s, #20 Mercury FB Pheasant Tails, #20 Black Beauties, #20 Top Secret Midges, #20 Orange Scuds, and #16 Nuclear Eggs.

Effective Patterns: #20-22 Mercury Midge, #22-24 Mercury Baetis, #20-24 San Juan Emerger, #20-22 Bead Head Barr’s Emerger (baetis), #14 Pink San Juan Worm, #20-22 Dorsey’s Mercury Pheasant Tails, #18 Micro San Juan Worms, #24 Black Beauty, #16 Nuclear Eggs, #14 Orange and Olive Scuds, #20-26 Parachute Adams, #20-24 Hi Vis Baetis, and #20-22 Mathew’s Sparkle Dun.
