- (4/1/04) - Water temperatures are falling again with the cold weather that is in the area. The surface temperatures should start rising later in the week. Crappie fishing is good with several crappie being caught in the shallows while trolling and casting jigs. A lot of crappie are being caught in the major creeks using minnows close to blowdowns. These crappie are being caught along the deeper water in the creeks. Some fishermen are catching a lot of bass, but the majority are finding the bass bite slow. Those that are catching fish are flipping for the most part, in areas along the main channel.

WATTS BAR - (4/1/04) - Crappie are being caught on minnows in water depths of 10-to-15 feet, near heavy brush. White's Creek and other areas that are similar are the most popular fishing spots for crappie. The typical stringer will have 6 to 8 crappie. Fishermen in these areas are fishing close to the bank as the open water fish have been hard to locate. Bass are being caught on gradual sloping banks that lead to deeper water in the river. Jigging spoons are the most popular lures for catching these fish. They are being used vertically with the jigging technique. Water temperatures have cooled about 10 degrees and should quickly recover with the expected warmer weather later in the week.
