[cool][#804000]Drop shotting which originated in Japan apparently is a very effective method of fishing. Have never used this type of rigging myself. Have you? Next week I will give it a try with the samples of gulp I recently received.[/#804000]

yep we were using the drop shot method 40 years ago, long before it was ever called drop shotting. at least to my recolection.
truly a killer method on most any species. you can set a depth form the bottom any where from inches to 5 feet above.
this method has proven it self time and again on both lake and river situations.

I am not sure what the drop shotting rig looks like, can you describe it or post a pic? Thanks,

this one in your picture is the favorite of walleye anglers on the detroit river.
they keep off the rubble wich usualy grabs other type of sinkers that would hang up and snap lines while drifiting.

Drop Shoting also works well on a change in bottom structure on lakes. Like say you are trolling slowly acrossed a jagged shale or rock outcropping. This also works with crankbaits as also live baits, especially for walleyes and smallmouths.

I have never bought one, but I do have two. I caught them off the broken concrete piles by bell isle (Hog Island) bottom of the detroit river. nothing is fool proof, these do come close.

Hey there lakelurker, Hi and welcome to the BFT message boards. Thanks for you input on this post. We all learn from each other here on this site.
I too have found dropshotting very effective for the Small Mouths. It tends to drive them nuts.
