[font "Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"][#000000][size 2]Confirming the fish's species for official record status, proved difficult, however, because the fish was so much bigger than its counterparts. The previous North Carolina record hickory shad, taken from the Tar River in 1992, weighed 3 pounds, 8 ounces.[/size][/#000000][/font]

[font "Arial"][size 2]A 4-pound, 1-ounce hickory shad is a outstanding caught. I have caught some that where 3 pounds on the Roanoke river. I was hopefully to break the record but now it’s unlikely.[/size][/font]
