I took the boat out to cutler last week to break in the new motor. I didn't take a pole cause I new I'd fish instead of doing the break in. But I did take the fish finder and saw a few spots with tons of fish. There were a couple spots where I have never seen so many fish on the radar, literally hundreds and I don't think they were minnows cause they were large on the screen. What could they be: carp, suckers, walley, catfish? A lot of them were right around the bottom.

Matador may be right. Did you launch from the Benson Marina?

The place is also loaded with small bullheads. But I doubt that you would see them on sonar.

Cutler is in Cache Valley and covers about 1/4, (probably not but is seems like it), of the land mass of the valley. It backs up both the Bear and Logan Rivers. Most of cutler res. is very shallow. The water is heavily stained and has many sand bars making it hard to navigate. Cutler Dam was built in about 1910.

We launched from the benson marina and went north. You are right about it being shalow and hard to navigate. A couple of times we went from 5ft to dragging bottom in an instant. The east side seemed to be deeper for the most part.
What is the depth like south of the Marina?

The depth south of the marina is about the same as it is north of it. When they built Cutler it was mostly for generating power and was not built very tall. Because of that about all that was flooded, when they filled it, was the river channels and the low lying area around them. It is rare to find a hole deeper than about 20 feet. So, if you stay in the channels you are okay if not you will run-a-ground.
