Question for all. Has anyone headed down to Quail Creek yet? I am wondering if I am still a bit early or with the wather being in the high 80's if I should be okay.
Side note - Same question on Sand Hollow.
Thanks

I was down there about 4 weeks ago. Caught a few small bass. You should be ok now.

Thanks for the reply. I know there have been some discussions about not giving up secrets, but I have never fished Quail Creek, is it a pretty tough lake?

I've only been there 1 time. I used a brown with a green curley tailed jig. The ones I caught were small. But I think it was still early when I was there. I fished from the shore on the other side of the lake from the dam. I think it would be better in a boat to be able to fish the structure a little better. I wish I could tell you more but that is all I know from my one and only trip there.

Tough isn't the word for it. Most of the bass pro's I know fish it once or twice a year then straight to Mead.
I've fished it several dozen and get skunked more often then not. It's got some big fish but they don't get big because they are stupid it's because they are very picky.
The last tournement I heard about only one person caught a legal fish.
I'd try the Sand Hollow. Just opened up and all virgin bass.

I agree, this is a tough lake to fish although they can be caught. I have caught a couple of nice 4-5 pounders but the catching is slow. Definately head to Sand Hallow. You'll get into some fun bass fishin'

I used to do real well regularly with spinnerbaits down there when I lived in sin city. It was usually a bit later in the season, and they were the smaller ones as a rule. The new lake sounds like a fun new place to try.

I have fished it twice and caught one bass on each outing. The larger of the two was pushing 4lbs. I only used a thin power worm, texas-rigged.
