Strawberry/Soilder Creek Dam report 4/30/04
#1
[cool][font "Times New Roman"][size 3]Got to the dam at 8:00 am 2 inches of fresh snow made hiking down the boulders tricky. Noticed action in the shallows. Obviously little fish being chased by bigger fish. Caught fish immediately. We fished from 8:00 until about 2:00 the action really slowed down about noon (no wind bright sun and clear water). The bites were plentiful early, but slowed if you stayed in one spot to long. If we moved 20 feet down the bank whamoo

8 fish total all cutts 19 inches and up 2 over the slot limit. One broke off 6lb test (that I never even slowed him down) and many many many missed strikes, that basically the fish were on but just spit out the jig or bait. The fish were in close.

We used Rainbow colored tube jigs, black marabou jigs, crawdad looking jigs & and some baits.

Thanks for the report. Sounds like a good day of fishing to me.
