Lake Toho
Fishing Report
by: Captain Chuck Matthews
May 07, 2002

The locks at Southport and East Lake are still open. At Southport, only 1/2 foot, but you still have some flow and there are nice fish in the area. They will probably shut them down this week as they have reached summer depth on Toho.

There is a big concentration of fish in open water out in front of Red’s Fish Camp. Just look for the congregation of boats by Red’s and you will find the fish. Almost anywhere you go on Toho in open water by hydrilla or all the new fish attractors, there are fish. Lanier Point, Brown’s Point, Goblet’s Cove, South Steer, and Southport are all holding fish. Carolina rigs, top water baits, or shiners will all produce.

Lake Toho is very low now so watch when you are running in shallow water. There are places on the lake that have fence posts in the water. There was an air boat that hit one. The people in the boat had minor injuries, thank goodness. But it could have been a lot worse. So Be Careful. Also, I wish DNR would do something about the people that catch their shiners to sell. They mark their holes with PCP pipe and never picks them up. I’m kind of tired of seeing them all over our lake.

See ya next week,

Captain Chuck Matthews
Pro Bass Guide
A1 Action Bass Guides Professional Services
http://www.centralfloridabassfishing.com
http://www.orlandobassfishing.com
CaptainChuck@centralfloridabassfishing.com

Captain Chuck Matthews 800-936-7398
