[red] Well didn't get into the fish but a good on the water non the less. I launched at the South Marina around 8:30 am, water is still pretty shallow but doable. Started off by going over to the East side parallel to the Highway. Marked a few fish but they were 30-40 feet to one side or the other. I noticed a lot of that all day, going to get some side planers. I started to make my way over by the feed lot and head to the SW cornerWater temp was 57 degrees in about 10-12 ft of water.[/red]

[#ff0000] I was looking for Old Coot as he had told me that he was going to be out there with a friend from work, I was about half way to the feed lot and I noticed a small boat moving at a pretty good clip and there was my friend Old Coot waving that big ole hat of histo get my attention. We shot the bs for a minute or two and we were off and running again. We also had our radios on Ch12 and I think we were able to brifly talk to BLM as well. [/#ff0000]

[#ff0000] I saw Paul out there with his friend I don't think they saw me , I also believe I saw the Predators boat over by BLM for a minute. I was thinking it must have been BFT day at Willard. Well anyway I wound up going over to the light pole area and trolled at about 2.0-2.7 mph and would very from time to time. I really think I need to get the side planes as everything that I saw on the sonar was out to the sides .[/#ff0000]

[#ff0000] I made my way to the SW corner and still nothing, so I decided to call it a day. Time was about 2:30 pm. It was good to see so many BFTer's on the water but I still think we need some type of flag to identify members.[/#ff0000]

Sounds like you had a tough day on Willard, we were out there today and caught most of our fish while using side planners. I think Sportsman's sells them but they are around $26 or more apiece. You might be able to get them at Smith and Edwards also. WH2

Hi Dan!

Hey those side planers are available everywhere. I saw them at Hooked last Friday. I know that Sportsman's and Smith and Edwards have them also. My recommendation, if you are planning on in-lines, are to go with the larger, yellow, Off-shore brand. The smaller, lighter ones are great when it's calm but aren't worth a nickel when the wind and chop or boat wakes come thru.

I'm toying with the idea of going to a mast set up and the large double Riveras. You never have to worry about having the planer come off your line and having to go back for them. That is a royal pain, especially when you get a good hit, the in-line planer comes off, and the fish doesn't hook up. You can hook the in-lines up so they never come off but that has it's diSadvatages also. They're always there in the way.
