Tiger Trout?
#1
I went over to check out the fishing report on utahfishfinder.com and saw this article on tiger trout. Are they really in all those places they say they are in on that article? I didn't think there were tigers in rockport or panguitch. Check it out if you'd like, you'll see the article as soon as the page is loaded. Just type in www.Utahfishfinder.com

I've never caught any out of East Canyon either. I don't know if they have plans on putting them in the other places this year. They sure are fun to catch though.

I think several of the locations are yet to be planted with Tiger Trout for the first time. Hyrum is one of them. Check out this previous thread.

"Tiger trout are now found in approximately 40 fishing waters throughout Utah, including Huntington, East Canyon, Hyrum, Joe's Valley, PaliSade and Rockport reservoirs and Panguitch Lake."

That came straight from that article. Have they already planted or is this just someones mistake. Kinda nice if they are in rockport, not as far of a drive to catch them for me anymore now.

I can't say for the other waters, but the DWR told me that they've never been planted in Hyrum. As I said in the previous thread, this July will be the first planting of Tiger Trout in Hyrum. So, as it is worded the article is wrong concerning Hyrum. They probably plan on planting some of the other waters mentioned with Tiger Trout for the first time this season also.

As noted, the DWR is most likely planning to stock tigers in these waters. They are a great fish for management. A little note just for BFTers--Mill Hollow Res. was stocked with tigers last year and will get more this year. You'll probably see a few more waters in the Central region stocked in the next few years.

Polokid,

Tigers were planted in Mill Hollow basically just to get a northern population going--just like the rest of the waters mentioned. Mill Hollow already depends on stocked fish, so it's as good a place as any.
