Hello

Any tips on trolling or bait fishing from a boat at strawberry? I need a successful trip to get my 2 son excited about it.

Thanks

Depends on the day, time of day, time of year, weather, etc, etc.

Early in the day or late evening I like to use flatfish trolling slowly. Black with silver speckles is one of my favorites.

A good standby that works in most conditions is the old pop gear followed by a worm. I have had success with this at most any time and a huge variety of speeds. The only problem is that you don't get to "feel" the fish as much. If it is warmer, or near mid-day, I prefer to have this on leaded line and out quite a ways.

Needlefish are also fun to fish with and can chance in to a koke.

If you are still fishing from shore, get a large sliding egg sinker, put it above a swivel, add about 18 - 24" of leader, then add rainbow powerbait, or some other favorite bait (worm+marshmallow, crave bait, etc, etc, etc). Heave that thing out there and sit and wait.

I have tried a large variety of baits / lures and most will catch a strawberry trout if they are in the area (showing on the finder).

Most people say to troll along the shorelines. However, if that isn't working for you, send your gear down deeper and head straight out across the middle. I have caught a lot of fish that way using just leaded line.
